Griesbauerhof is situated at the entrance to Eisacktal/Valle Isarco in the extensive basin of Bozen/Bolzano, and has been owned by the Mumelter family since 1785. The three hectares of vineyards on the hereditary farm are situated at 300 metres above sea level in the foothills of St. Magdalena and St. Justina in Rentsch. The high-quality grapes are a matter of careful cultivation, from pruning to fertilisation and plant protection up to the control of the quantity of the grapes through thinning. The resultant wines are pressed and refined in a traditional and natural way. Griesbauerhof and the recently acquired vineyard in Spitz and the leased vineyard in Moritzing/San Maurizio provide the best basis for the cultivation of powerful red and rosé wines – principally from the autochthonous local varieties Vernatsch and Lagrein – as well as a full-bodied Pinot Gris.
