The Association of Independent Winegrowers of South Tyrol (FWS) is an association of independent South Tyrolean wine producers. While there were 12 founding members in 1999, today the association counts 100 independent winegrowers who participate in the idea and implementation of the Free Winegrowers with their noble wines and contribute innovative ideas. The member enterprises are distributed over all South Tyrolean cultivation areas: from the south and the Überetsch over the central Eisacktal up to the west to Meran and into the Vinschgau. Each growing area has its own conditions, its own terroir, character and climate. Our members are individual minds and thus give each of their wines their very own signature.
Goals of the FWS
The Association of Independent Winegrowers of South Tyrol sees itself as a representation of the interests of its members and at the same time as an authentic and versatile ambassador of South Tyrolean wine culture. Our members are primarily wineries, which are family businesses, and the entire process – from the vine to the glass – authentic and independent.
In addition to comprehensive support and a constant exchange of experiences, we also offer our members study trips to other wine-growing regions. Furthermore, we organize the annual wine presentation “Vinea Tirolensis” in Bolzano.
