Located on the sunny mountainside high above Naturns/Naturno is the well-known vineyard Falkenstein, owned by the Pratzner family for 200 years. In 1995 the present owner decided to produce and sell his wines himself. His grape vines have a sunny location, with hot days and cool nights, most suitable for the Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Gewürztraminer varieties. Especially the Riesling from Falkenstein is known as the best south of Germany. In addition to the white wines there is also an excellent Pinot Noir. Today Franz Pratzner fills 90,000 bottles per year. Moreover, varietal grappas and noble brandies are distilled. The noble wines and grappas can be savoured in the attached inn with a wonderful view.
