86 Independent Winegrowers with 415 Wines at Vinea Tirolensis
On Wednesday, October 15, the Hotel trade fair in Bolzano will become a meeting point for wine lovers, professionals, and the media – from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – at Vinea Tirolensis 2025, the annual highlight of the Freie Weinbauern Südtirol (Independent Winegrowers of South Tyrol, FWS).
A total of 86 independent winegrowers from all South Tyrolean winegrowing areas will take part in Vinea Tirolensis, presenting 415 different wines. Sommeliers, hoteliers, restaurateurs, and wine enthusiasts – around 1,000 visitors are expected – will not only have the chance to taste a wide range of wines, but also to meet the winemakers personally and exchange ideas with them.
A central concern of the Independent Winegrowers is to also convey their philosophy to the visitors of Vinea Tirolensis. “The FWS are not united by a uniform style, but by a shared spirit: freedom in winemaking, community in action, and authenticity in craftsmanship,” explains president Magdalena Pratzner. Behind every FWS label stand wines that do not follow trends but are created out of conviction: “Individually shaped, yet connected through this attitude,” says Pratzner.
Another key aspect that distinguishes the FWS is their long-term, generational thinking and acting – something that will also be clearly visible at Vinea Tirolensis. At no fewer than 40 percent of the stands, at least two generations will be present. “The work of the Independent Winegrowers is a promise to the next generations: the heritage is not preserved unchanged, but reinterpreted and carefully developed further,” Pratzner emphasizes.
