The vineyard estate Gottardi is famous for its South Tyrolean Pinot Noir. In the year 1986, the Gottardi family from Innsbruck, originally with roots in Trentino, bought the Fernheimhof at Mazzon in Neumarkt/Egna and continued the wine trade. In 1995, the first wine was produced in their own cellars. Since then Bruno and Alexander Gottardi have succeeded in acquiring a well-respected name as wine producers. Since his father Bruno’s passing, Alexander is now controlling the fate of the estate. At the "Blauburgundertage" (Pinot Noir Days), the Gottardi wines have on a number of occasions been on the podium with the three best Pinot Noir wines in Italy. The 6 hectares of vineyard have now grown to nearly 9 hectares, with annual production between 45,000 and 50,000 bottles. In the new cellar, refinement takes place for one year in barrique, a further 8 to 10 months in wooden barrels, before bottling the wine 20 to 22 months after wine harvest.
