The Hemberghof wine farm in Atzwand/Ritten above Bolzano can be traced back 1200 years, making it one of the oldest wine-growing areas in Central Europe. On its sunny steep southern slopes, located at the opening of the Eisacktal valley, noble wines have again been produced since 2008, when Klaus Lentsch took over the winery. He produces first-class wines that correspond to this unique terroir, named after the ancient formerly registered names of the wine-growing area. Thus, the winegrower Lentsch concentrates on only a few of the most highly regarded white wines such as Veltliner (Eichberg), Gewürztraminer (Fuchslahn) and Pinot Noir (Bachgart), which has yet to arrive at its ideal age.
