The Befehlhof is situated on a sunny hillside at 710 metres above sea level in the village of Vetzan/Vezzano in Vinschgau/Val Venosta. It was already cultivated in the year 1170 by the Marienberg Monastery. Befehlhof is also mentioned in a document from 1313. Today's estate owner, Oswald Schuster, began to improve the viniculture at the Sonnenberg in Vinschgau/Val Venosta again in the 1970s together with his family. The grape varieties, cultivated on the vineyards with an area of 1.2 hectares, are Müller Thurgau, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and the old Vinschgauer white wine "Fraueler", as well as Pinot Noir and Zweigelt. Natural cultivation of the vineyards and care in the cellar bring about the best guarantee of the wines’ high quality. The house speciality is the Pinot Blanc-Riesling-cuvée sparkling wine "Sällent". The pure distillates from the estate's own distillery have also received many awards.
