Since the early 1990s, Peter Wachtler has been managing the vine-growing slopes around his farm south of Bressanone/Brixen. At an altitude of 530 m, the climatic conditions are optimal. The southeast-facing direction of the slopes ensures intense exposure to the sun, and the lightly slated soil gives the grapes its characteristic flavor. By producing only four types of wine – Sylvaner, Kerner, Riesling and Gewuerztraminer in limited quantities – controllable quality and refined, pleasurable wines are always guaranteed. The white wines from the Taschlerhof such as the Sylvaner "Lahner" are characterized by their longevity and fruity bouquet. The young and independent wine maker Peter Wachtler is a true pioneer and creates distinctive wines with his unique cultivation methods, true rarities among South Tyrol’s precious wines.
