The wine-growing estate Glögglhof is a small family establishment in the heart of the St. Magdalener wine-growing district. Since the 1970s, Franz Gojer has been considered a guarantor for quality, starting with the rediscovery of the autochthonous wines Vernatsch and Lagrein. The St. Magdalener wines develop on the light well-aerated moraine soils. The Lagrein, on the other hand, grows on alluvium soils, where it has better possibilities to unfold its power. Recently, the Gojer family has also been noticed for their excellent white wines. Kerner, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc grow at 600 metres above sea level, where the cool mountain air and sunny position impart to them their distinct character and elegance. A real highlight – unique in South Tyrol – is the dessert wine PIPA XI, orientated along the lines of a vintage port. Produced from the grape variety Lagrein, it is intensive and full-bodied with an outstanding ageing capability.
