Since the vintage in 2006, we, Armin and Monika Kobler, have started to process part of our grapes ourselves at Margreid/Margrè. The vineyards at Margreid are located at between 200 and 220 metres above sea level. Whereas the alluvial fan at Margreid is characterised by warm, water-permeable limestone gravel, light and sandy soils as well as deep soils with clay dominate the eastern and southern locations in the valley. The estate includes vineyards covering an area of 2 hectares, corresponding to an average production of 14,000 bottles of South Tyrolean DOC wine a year. We dedicate great effort to the vines of Chardonnay, Ruländer/Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Merlot. The plant protection complies with the principles of integrated cultivation; the grape harvest is done by hand, often later than otherwise usual. In that way the wine is processed gently and carefully in the cellar, using modern oenological procedures. The result is wines of high value and unique character.
